Well, I finally took the plunge!  No, I didn't get married (although that would have been a preferable alternative).  I had a hysterectomy.  I'm now home from the hospital, and doing very well.  Especially since I estimate I dropped 20 pounds of useless fibroids.  I've slowly been gaining weight in my stomach area and figured it was just overeating combined with lowered metabolism.  Turns out my uterus was so full of fibroids my doctor equated it to being eight months pregnant.  He also said my uterus was so distorted it was the "strangest" uterus he's ever seen.  Well, at least I'll be well known for something!  They plan on using my uterus as a teaching tool... well, since I never got any use out of it, be my guest!

You haven't been around much lately, but I'm glad to know that you had this down (especially since your uterus sounds like it is all sorts of weird.)

Thanks--yes, I haven't been online much. In fact, haven't felt like doing much of anything, which looks like it may all be related. I already feel so much better, even though it's only been a few days.

Dee, I'm so happy to hear from you and that you're recovering well from surgery. Is the pain any better now?

It actually wasn't too bad the next day--it was worse yesterday, but today I'm feeling better. It really helped getting rid of the bulk--I had no idea that my weight gain was all related to my fibroids. I can't believe I was in such denial about my own body!
